Neighborhoods that once held front porches, backyard barbecues, and the quiet routines of ordinary life looked as if they had been torn apart by war. It ranks among the largest residential fires in Washington State history.
Yet Spokane has never been defined by what is taken from it. It is defined by the people—neighbors checking on neighbors, strangers offering what little they have, a community that refuses to give up.
